This section will be updated monthly to reveal our favourite wine of the month. (Independant of any commercial coercions!). I hope that most veteran wine drinkers would agree, that when it comes to wine tasting "the bitterness lies with the beholder". My personal periwinkle of pleasure is usually a hybrid mix of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon - when I can get my hands on a good one!

However I was pleasantly surprised when I (drunkenly) stumbled across a little triple blend gem of Cab Sauv, Shiraz & Merlot called Church Block, produced in the Wira Wira region of South Australia (I know, it kinda sounds like something from The Simpsons!) 

This natural treasure is a 50/32/18 % blend of the above, matured for 18 months in American oak baroques for added flavour and dexterity.The result: a burst infusion of red and black fruit flavours, with a hint of balanced tannins and oak mustings. This bottle of bliss is a fantastic addition to any celebratory dinner party, or any gathering where niblets in the far and distant background. I've found it to be a bubbly conversation enhancer on many occasions, (not that my drunken babbling needs one!)

In addition, I find it has the most enchanting way of holding a mature release of intoxification, so subtle that you don't even realize until you go to open the next bottle (or attempt to walk home!). The triple blend has been reengineered to a point of perfection for almost half a century, and you can really taste to scrutinized selection in every sip. This triump can be found at most Irish wine merchants. (Told you I'm staying independent). And as always, please enjoy in moderation my friends.
